Project
Stammtisch and ‘furniture in transit’

Year
2023

Location
Burnout at E-WERK Luckenwalde

Type
Installation, Workshop, Curation

Collaboration
Kunstlabor, The sustainable institution und Sebastian Reinicke

Throughout Burn Out, a symposium by E-WERK Luckenwalde, contributors and audiences were invited to join the Stammtisch; a discursive outdoor dining table to invite rhizomatic hierarchy, mutual trust and meaningful conversation. Anyone was able to sit at the long table to further elaborate key discussions of Burn Out, creating a patchwork of opinions and expressions from both contributing speakers, performers and EW audiences.

The architectural installation was  visually connecting the project “Super Duty” by Kunststromlabor to Stammtisch. We used the materiality of fire hoses to build a temporal, inflatable structure that would invite the audience to linger and participate at the conversation.

‘furniture in transit’ was a sustainable furniture workshop. This workshop was gradually equipping the Stammtisch with chairs - transforming the institution’s infrastructural landscape as the symposium unfolded. Following the ideology of the sustainable institution the workshop has employed a circular, regional and lo-fi design approach - leaving no waste behind. All materials were sourced in the neighbourhood of E-WERK and assembled with no extra materials.
