The research project "24 h at the laundromat" is the result of an investigation into human labour as a source of energy.
The evolution of the project led me to a freestanding laundromat in Eindhoven, a place frequently visited by people in precarious living situations. Through
first-hand insights I wanted to find out the status quo of the labour situation in the Netherlands. Based on the interviews conducted there, I was able to reveal three intimate perspectives on the spheres of migration, domestic, and
part-time work.
The setting of the exhibition invites the audience to enter the environment of the project and aims to make the narratives of these interviews tangible. The bench as a central element documents all the positions in which the chairs were placed by the participants throughout the day. In doing so, I visually interweaves the stories and blend the 24 hours and the different personalities into a whole.
